Public Workshop #1
The first public meeting for the Kingsley Field Oregon Air National Guard Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) was held on Monday, June 29th, 2015 from 6:00PM to 7:30PM, at the Klamath Falls City Police Department Building, located at 2501 Shasta Way in Klamath Falls, OR. The purpose of this workshop was to introduce the JLUS consultant team and to provide the public with a general overview of the JLUS process and what to expect throughout the study. The workshop included a discussion of the military operations that take place on and around Kingsley Field, and how the base and the communities interact and play a role in each other’s continued development. Over the course of the project, the JLUS will look at development within the communities near Kingsley Field and it’s operational areas, and assess 25 potential compatibility factors, some man-made, and some natural, to determine which are pertinent. During the first workshop, attendees were provided with background information on the compatibility factors, and encouraged to engage in discussion and to provide input on compatibility concerns that should be addressed during the JLUS process. Public responses were registered through the use of an interactive audience response system that displayed real-time results. Following the presentation, attendees were asked to identify any locations of specific issues on large area maps.
